EGLO'S HISTORY
EGLO's success story began around 50 years ago when Ludwig Obwieser opened a small electrical retailer, which has since become a global corporation in the interior and exterior lighting industry. EGLO's history was established in 1969 when the founder returned from a trip to Milan. Soon after, the first Italian lights landed in the shop windows of specialist retailers. After the first orders in Salzburg, Austria, EGLO expanded, and production started in Pill, Tyrol - where the company headquarters remains.
The company8s development continues to accelerate at high speeds: from the number of employees and sales development to the production facilities and subsidiaries around the world. For EGLO to continue future growth, business development is driven forward with sustainable thinking. With the concept of the EGLO World of Lights, a flagship showroom near the headquarters, EGLO is showing its love for lighting and paving the way for an even brighter future.
EGLO is a family business and can therefore act independently. From the start, control over development, production and logistics has been a success factor for business growth. For that reason, EGLO continues to observe market developments closely, manufactures products efficiently and offers care and support to all customers.

Sustainability is a top priority at EGLO. In 2022, the EGLO headquarters and the production facility in India were ISO 14001 certified. Since then, we continue to ensure other production facilities and global branches are certified and working towards becoming
climate-neutral. We are proud to have received the climate-neutral company approval for
our headquarters, and we can offer customers climate-neutral products worldwide.
At EGLO, we work sustainably on all levels. Therefore, it is important to us that we involve employees and inform them about newly implemented environmentally friendly measures. As a global company, we ensure fair pay, health and safety at work while committing ourselves and our suppliers to comply with BSCI and International Labour Organization (ILO) guidelines.
From Pill to around the world, together with our subsidiaries and production facilities,
we pay attention to the efficient use of resources and value environmentally friendly and
natural materials. For this reason, we work tirelessly to expand the certifications of our
product groups and locations.
With recyclable, compostable, and biodegradable packaging we are gradually paving the way to a more sustainable future.
Many of the materials, luminaires, furniture, and decorative items used at EGLO are
already FSC-certified. Furthermore, we are proud that all our production sites and 35
EGLO branches also hold the FSC certification.
EGLO is committed to meeting 11 of the 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Thus, supporting sustainable projects and research for a better and greener future.
